My husband, M. Zahid Chaudhry – a decorated, disabled, honorably discharged US Army veteran – has been waiting for twenty years to be accepted as a US citizen. Despite being fully eligible for expedited naturalization due to his military service, he remains in limbo because of the Controlled Application Review and Resolution Program (CARRP). This policy unfairly blocks Muslim immigrants from being naturalized as US citizens even when they are fully qualified.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has meticulously documented this travesty, which was never authorized by Congress. It affects well over 50,000 people with unconstitutional delay of their applications to naturalize, unexplained denials, and deportations. My husband is one such individual; an honorable and upstanding man who has broken his body in service to this country and now uses a wheelchair.

This discriminatory policy not only affects my family, but thousands more across the nation. We urge Congress to end the illegal CARRP program that unfairly targets Muslim immigrants seeking citizenship despite meeting all requirements. Let us uphold our values of fairness and equality by giving every qualified immigrant an equal chance at becoming an American citizen.

Please sign this petition urging Congress to end USCIS’s discriminatory CARRP policy immediately!
